GLASTONWICK 2006 AT SHOREHAM AIRPORT

For the 11th consecutive year, and the fourth year in the unique surroundings of Shoreham Airport, this popular festival will again take place in early June 2006. Again organised by the founders of Glastonwick, namely chart-busting (Seagulls Ska) local poet and musician Attila the Stockbroker and cask beer advocate Alex Hall, we bring you a weekend of enormous quantities of delicious real ale (including many new brews as usual), cider, perry, and quality entertainment. Note: After 2003's 'Glastonwake', we reverted to calling the festival by its original name (despite now holding it at the Airport).

Frequent trains run to Shoreham from Brighton, Worthing (both only 10 minutes away by train) and other stations along the West Coastway Line. There will be a special shuttle bus linking the festival with Shoreham High Street and Railway Station, Southwick Square and Manor Hall Road. So, no-one needs to drive - or even fly!

OPENING TIMES:

Friday 2nd June: 7pm to 11.30pm;
Saturday 3rd June: 12 noon to 11.30pm (two sessions: 12 noon to 7pm & 7pm to 11.30pm);
Sunday 4th June: 12 noon to whenever the beer runs out (no entertainment on Sunday).

THE ATTRACTIONS:

* About 50 cask-conditioned ales, all from small independent breweries - mostly unusual but with a few 'old favourites'.

* Farmhouse cider and perry.

* Quality food (including veggie options).

* Quality entertainment with an international line-up!

ENTERTAINMENT

Compere: Attila the Stockbroker.

Friday evening:

Saturday afternoon:

  • THE LOVELY BROTHERS - Flanders & Swann meet Half Man Half Biscuit...
  • CHARRED HEARTS - Swindon's answer to the Stooges...
  • VERBAL WARNING - Tuneful old school Nottingham punk rock...
  • TRACEY CURTIS - Sharp singer-songwriter from Wales, ex-Shelley's Children...
  • POG - Beat bedsit music, anally unbearded...
  • AL DUVALL - From New York City; twisted tales from America's dark underbelly, chirped out with banjo and kazoo...
  • ANDY SMITH - Will, erm, bring up a few subjects in verse...
    Plus, as a special bonus,
  • THE JOHN OTWAY LECTURE - A hilarious spoof Powerpoint lecture - "How To Succeed in the Music Business", by Rock 'n' Roll's greatest failure!

Saturday evening:

  • JOHN OTWAY - The return of the legend, with occasional interference from Attila...
  • BOB GROVER & DATES - The return of another legend! Glastonwick welcomes Piranhas' frontman with his new band...
  • AISLE 16 - Poetry Boyband! Much acclaimed, totally unique. They have to be seen (and heard) to be believed...
  • RORY ELLIS - The return of the gravel-voiced, golden hearted one from Australia...

Sunday afternoon: No entertainment, Sunday is a drinking-up session only.

Evening entertainment will be in the main restaurant-bar area, while Saturday afternoon's musicians will perform at Terminal 2 (east of the beer tent). Both locations are well away from the 'quiet area'.

Artists may not necessarily appear in the order listed above.

Glastonwick is an official Adur Festival 2006 event.

Please note that this is not a CAMRA-organised beer festival
(so may not be advertised in their publications).
That said, we do support CAMRA's efforts - there should be a CAMRA stall at the festival.

Glastonwick is a scooper-friendly event.

THERE IS ONLY ONE GENUINE GLASTONWICK!

Glastonwick is not connected to any other beer or music events (apart from any advertised on Attila's or Alex's respective websites), locally or nationally.
